I always have a “mods wish list” for my Golf. I share this wish list with a lot of people - my girlfriend, Ming sir, Aric, Paper Gor, Vorsichtians, etc. But just in case if you don’t know anything about my wish list, here you go:
I got the wheels in August last year (2005) so I will skip this one here. I love the Votex body kit a lot but it is just too expensive so I will probably abandon this one. The last item in the wish list is the MFD2. MFD2 is a Volkswagen Satellite Navigation System with radio. It has better sound quality than the RCD 300 which came along with my Golf. It has a wide format 16:9 6.5″ colour screen that gives you full colour maps and driving directions with accompanied voice instructions. The unit is capable for optional CD changer, TV tuner, DVD player, Playstation or other video games. The following is a picture of the unit:
Yes. I would like to get this. I would like to get this because:
The LCD screen is so beautiful. It will display a big VW logo in the middle when you start the engine.
The sound quality is better than the RCD 300. If I get the MFD2, I don’t need to upgrade the speaker systems.
It can connect other video and audio source thru AUX.
I can keep using the steering wheel controls to control this headunit (most of the aftermarket headunits just can’t do this).
Even though I want to get it, I still need the “approval” from my “boss”. But it is ok. I am sure that I will get it eventually but just don’t know when.
You probably want to know how the LCD looks like when playing DVD thru AUX. The following are two video clips that I found on YouTube. They will tell everything you want to know. Enjoy.
Shark fin antenna is no longer only for bimmers. VG Shark Fin Antenna from Visual Garage Co. is designed for vehicles from Honda, Lexus, Mazda, Toyota, and Volkswagen, etc. It is stylish and features a built-in fractal antenna for AM/FM radio reception. It is made of ABS plastic and made in North America.
The double-sided adhesive gasket at the bottom makes installation easier. It is a direct replacement for cars with a rear roof antenna. It is also good for cars without a rear roof antenna (like my 2004 Golf MK5) but for the look only. You can order it for US$59 (plus US$18 shipping and handling charge for locations outside of North America) from their online store. They will paint the shell the same color code of your car before they ship it to you so you don’t need to paint it yourself.
Actually, there is nothing new here. I made this song (the sample version) 16 months ago. What I have done tonight is to build the whole thing from scratch in GarageBand 3 and make it become a full version. I also made a version which has some additional sound effects added into it. That makes the song more fruitful. I have both versions attached below. Try both and find out which one you like the most.
